The Creative Style of Love
Dear reader,
In this blog, you can expect to read about finding love. Love in the death of the main character’s older brother, and the best friend that sat by his side as he died without control of the situation. In the book, the main character Cora learns the real personality of her deceased brother, Nate. When he was alive, they had nothing in common and he would always cause trouble at home as well as in school. They found a common thread in art and she was amazed by the beauty Nate had created from all of the destruction he had made. On the way of getting to know her brother, she finds love in the person who was sitting in the car with Nate the night of the car accident, Damian. Cora also falls in love with all of the great times her and Nate had together as kids. Cora also learns to love being in her own skin as she enters high school and finds who she really is. As her family grieves, she turns to her friends for support and when her best friend finds another clique, she finds someone named Helena who has her best interest at heart. When her family can finally get over their grief to talk to each other, love helps them handle the loss of Nate.

Eulogy
Nate, my brother was a kind hearted soul stuck in troubled ways. Nate always seemed like the bad child who was disrespectful in class, at home and everywhere in between. I was always the silent bystander and I found out I really never knew my brother all that well. When I got to know his partner in crime, I learned how artistic and creative he really was. All of the destruction he made was to build something much more beautiful. When I reflect on our childhood, I always will remember how Nate would take me to the swimming pool, the park playground, and the baseball field. All of the time he spent with me, saving me, playing me, finding me, will never be replaced. I have now seen all of the things that are in him in me. I wouldn’t have gotten to know my brother like this if this tragedy wouldn’t have happened. I am saddened, but I am truly thankful. Thank You.

Obituary
Yesterday around 9:51 pm, the life of teenager Nathaniel Bradley was taken in a tragic car accident. He was in his car with his best friend Damian that night. Nathaniel was driving and was coming from his home in Lincoln Grove. Apparently, he had no headlights on. From police reports, the family says there was a big argument before the incident and he got his keys and sped off. There was no alcohol involved I the accident. When interviewed, best friend, Damian, said he repeatedly told Nathaniel to pull over and put on his headlights. Nathaniel ignored Damian and continued his way down the road until he hit a tree. The car is totaled and disfigured. Just in that instant, a best friend, brother, son, and boyfriend were lost. The wake and funeral will be held at 1234 Hidden Avenue.

In the book, ‘A Map of the Known World’, no one knew how Nate really was. Nate always showed the crazy, wild, and rebellious side of himself that no one ever saw his softer and more artistic side. In the eulogy, Cora got to show everyone who Nate really was. She was able to share all of the memories she had with him.
I picked an obituary because it shows what exactly happend to Nate. The obituary help to explain what happen the night Nate had his accident. It describes the emotions and situations he dealt with at home. It also helps the reader understand a little bit of what Damian felt and how he reacted to the situation.
Next, I chose a children’s book with illustrations. I chose children’s book wit illustrations because it helped to match imagery with the events in the story with the relations of the main character and her deceased brother. Children’s books are usually joyfully and happy and using a children’s book structure enabled me to have the reader look at death in a positive way.
I chose to include a collage in my project beacuse it gives life to words in the story. My collage helped tell the story of a human life and all of the things it includes. A human life usually includes of accidents, love, relationships with others and death and departure. Sometimes in life, all you can do is be a bystander when events are happening. Things aren't always easy to find out of, sometime you have to play hide-and-seek to know.
